JOSEPH HOUSE COMMUNITY FOOD BANK
GROCERIES
Abundant Rain Ministries, Inc., is a private, nonprofit organization located in Coweta, Oklahoma. Joseph House Community Food Bank is a division of Abundant Rain that distributes food and other grocery items in Oklahoma. We network with other organizations including the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.Abundant Rain supports one of the largest non-profit hunger relief organizations in Oklahoma named Joseph House Community Food Bank (JHCFB).
We distributed donated food and other grocery items to 46 cities. This program includes our local food pantries and soup kitchens.
We network with many organizations to assist our local communities by contributing to the hunger relief efforts in their areas. These groups help us by receiving and distributing food to households.
The need for food bank and food pantry services has been growing in recent years as income has not kept up with rising costs and federal program funding is not tied to inflation.
We distribute goods such as canned and boxed dry groceries, fresh produce, frozen foods and bakery products.
In Fiscal Year 2009, Joseph House Community Food Bank fed 26,014 people. Last year we distributed more than one million pounds of food with 5,333 volunteer hours.
Volunteers are vital to our mission of ending hunger in Oklahoma. We could not do the work without the volunteers who generously donate their time and effort to this cause. Just an hour or two of time once a week, once a month or once a year can make a big difference.
Also, our Joseph House Community Food Bank helps raise public awareness about hunger and the role of food banking in alleviating hunger in America.
Every day hungry Oklahoma' s are being fed as a result of our efforts to fight hunger by reducing fear and feeding hope.
