As long as there is a need... We will share!

Dear Abundant Rain, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you all for helping us with food this month and last month. With my husband’s sudden stroke and heart attack and the loss of his income, our struggles have been many and sometimes very overwhelming. Every day I thank my Heavenly Father for providing what we need and ask that He send me into the direction I need to go into. I believe He sent me to you since it seems that people of the faith I was raised in, sadly, seem to be a bit judgmental when they are asked for help. It’s hard enough for those of us who do have to seek help sometimes to go to one place for it. But when you have to go to 2 or 3 places to get food so badly needed, answer a million questions and repeat the story 2 or 3 times, it’s just too much. I appreciate you and what you do more than you could ever know. I walked away not feeling condemned or judged or like I was a social outcast because we are going thru some serious life changes. It’s doubly hard for me right now because I have NEVER been away from my family and now I haven’t seen my sons or my 90 year old mother in a year. My plan was to get back home early in midsummer, but apparently that was not God’s plan. I try to accept things without question, however difficult it may seem strive to do my best with what I have to do with and pray for a better way and the direction to achieve it. One day when things are better, I will be bringing gifts to you so you can help more people. I do not feel obligated – I just simply believe in what you do and how you do it. Thank you again so much – you have no idea how much we appreciate your help and prayers in our troubled times.Sincerely, R.O.

    About Abundant Rain Ministries, Inc.

In early 1999 we began the Joseph House feeding program for humanity by people bringing canned goods to give out. We now have a 4,800 sq.ft. food warehouse and with the aid of 5,333 volunteer hours last year we distributed over 900,000 lbs. of food to over 26,000 people in 56 cities.

    Goals

    • To ensure that no child goes unfed under our area of influence.
    • To provide food relief for elderly on retirement with low or no income
    • provide groceries to families due to unemployment/illness/medical.
    • To provide emergency food aid for any national crisis situation.
    • Expand facilites and increase equipment to effectively distribute food.

    Overview

Due to the increasing problem of hunger in America, our program has grown to feeding over 26,000 people. Our current Economic situation is hitting families hard. The hardest being hit by this situation are the children. Many times due to severe issues and minimal supervision the family's limited income is being used for things other than food for children. We are committed and have been for over ten years to ensure that these children do not go to bed hungry. The need continues to grow but we plan to keep growing with it as we expand our area of influence. We plan on increasing food storage capacity by building another food warehouse, adding additional freezer space and replacing old worn-out equipment. People often tell us they don't know what they would have done if we had not stepped in to help. For them, we must be prepared.
